About UMM

Muhammadiyah University of Malang (UMM) is a private university in Malang. University that was founded in 1964, is centered on the organization Muhammadiyah.At the time, opened three new UMM faculty, namely : Law,Economic and Guidance and Counseling (Department of Islamic Religious Education).Furthermore, in the period 1968-1975, UMM opened again two faculties, namely: FISIP and Fak. Islam. In the period 1975-1977, UMM re-open two new faculties, namely: Agriculture and Engineering. The number of faculty remained the same until 1983.

New in the period 1983-2000, several new faculty opened, namely: Psychology, Ranch, D3 Nursing and Medicine Program. During 2007, UMM re-open a new faculty, namely: PS Pharmaceuticals, which is part of the faculty of health sciences. In 2009, leaders do the merging UMM Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Fisheries Faculty into the Faculty of Agriculture and Livestock to comply with a consortium of Agricultural Sciences.

UMM is one of the fastest growing university, so that by the PP Muhammadiyah was commissioned as a college coach for the entire PTM (University of Muhammadiyah) eastern Indonesia. The programs are carefully designed to make UMM as "The Real University", one that is truly in the sense that the university as an institution of higher education who always commit in developing Tri Darma Higher Education.

As one of the leading universities in East Java, UMM now manages more than 18,000 active students who come from almost all parts of Indonesia and even from abroad, such as: Australia, Singapore etc.As an Islamic university, the religious background of students is not an a constraint. Therefore, UMM mahaiswa not only Muslims, but there are Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, and Catholic.

At present the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) campus occupies three locations, namely in the way of college I bandung dams, two on-campus and campus Sumbersari tegal three in Gondo. Campus which is the forerunner of the UMM, and now it is concentrated to the graduate program. While the campus II which was a major activity center, now in the concentrate as a medical school campus and D3 college nursing program. While college campuses III as an integrated whole essence serve as the center of activity.

Educate current UMM is not less than 45 900 students from all over the country, ranging from NAD to Papua. This amount includes foreign students, from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Australia and Timor Leste. They have a background of age, culture, ethnic race, religion, social conditions and from high school is located. So, like UMM descry gate into the "Mini World" where interaction between individuals and the community of diverse backgrounds.

In academics, UMM continues to develop facilities and infrastructure to support educational activities, research of international standard and supported by qualified lecturers. This is done, because UMM has been determined to be The Real University. Currently, UMM faculty have no less 750 people with educational qualifications almost 80% of graduates S2, S3 and 15% of Professors are graduates while the rest of the range of PT S1 at home and abroad. In addition UMM is also supported by hundreds of administrative staff, technicians and laboratory assistants, each experts in their fields. To improve the skill and the quality of human resources, periodically send UMM faculty and technical staff abroad to study and explore the science and knowledge in all areas.

 Thanks to the struggle that knows no stopping it, so now the University of Muhammadiyah Malang has been transformed in the direction of an alternative college. This has been recognized also by the Coordinator of the Region VII Kopertis his official speech at graduation Muhammadiyah University of Malang on July 11, 1992, argued that the UMM relatively large colleges and universities to become a prospected future.

With conditions that continue to be improved, now University of Malang is proud but humble ready to face the future, to participate in a common task "the intellectual life of the nation" and "build a complete Indonesian man" to be a nation of Indonesia in a dignified and parallel to the nation-other nations in the world.
